The Project

GLK commenced supporting SCMAT in September 2021 when the Trust formed having previously supported Chetwynde School who joined the newly formed SCMAT.  The focus was to ensure all effective governance procedures and compliance activities were in place, build relationships with the board members, and implement the Finance, Audit, and Risk Committee.

Our Contribution

GLK provide a full clerking service to their Trust Board and committee.  We have also provided support and guidance as the continue to grow and bring more schools into the Trust.  We have advised on processes and best practice to ensure their growth had minimal impact on their effectiveness as a Board.  In addition we have provided:

- Support around compliance trackers for the Academies Financial Handbook

- Relevant and up to date advice and guidance for Trustees (new and existing) to support their role

- Work within the context and understanding of the Trust Scheme of Delegation and Articles to ensure all boards remain compliant

- Advice and guidance on the onboarding of new schools into the Trust

What our client says

GLK Solutions has been providing the clerking service for South Cumbria Multi-Academy Trust since its formation in 2021.

The support that Lesley has provided has been excellent and she has been able to guide the Board through the early stages of its operations, ensuring that all the correct processes are both in place and adhered to. This has been exceptionally valuable to Trustees as most were new to the world of academy trusts.

GLK has been flexible and accommodating, often to short deadlines, as the Trust goes through the process of accepting new member schools, and the Chair and I are delighted that Lesley will be continuing as our Clerk. We know that we are in safe hands and I have no hesitation in recommending the services of GLK to other academies and academy trusts.
